What is it about the Z community that sets it apart from other car communities? Not sure if it sets it apart from all others, but I feel that the love for the classic attributes of a GT car really brings the community together. Is it the aesthetics or the mechanical composition that attracts you to the Z? Aesthetics were the first draw to the car; mechanical composition then became an equally enjoyable part (funny as that sounds). What makes the Z different from owning another type of hot rod? It doesn't look like others on the road; new or old. Do you find yourself having personal relationship with others based on your shared love for the Z? Most definitely. Having something in common like an obsession with the Z brings lots of us together, and then we find other topics to talk about. Just like meeting any other friends, you have a common ground to build on and then sometimes become friends beyond that one common interest. It's fun having good friends who are also Z owners. How would you classify the Z community? Family? Fraternity? Friends? Acquaintances? All of the above except fraternity; we don't necessarily pay to be a part of the community (although we all spend a lot to keep our cars running). Does owning a Z mean more than just owning a car? Yes. My DD Integra is just a vehicle; gets me from point A to point B. My Z is rolling therapy for me; it makes me feel better about everything after just one drive. I view it as so many things besides a vehicle; that of which almost never even comes to mind anymore. Its function is not good gas mileage, reliability, cargo space, multi-person hauling ability, or year-round driving. Its primary function is providing me with enjoyment. If you couldn't drive the Z what would you drive? Another weekend-type car or just in general. If I had to replace the Z, it would probably be with an NSX or Supra to be honest. My MK3 Turbo always made me want to take the next step. Are you part of any local clubs? If so how involved are you? CincyZ... I show up, eat whatever food is available, take pictures, and occasionally demand TT swaps. : ) Have you met any people in the Z community that have become close friends? Yes, see previous related question/answer. What is it that would entice people to join the Z community? A crowd of good people who aren't too hung up on the media consuming their vehicle; willing to help each other even without much knowledge about the other person; and the strong support of both clubs, vendors, and community.
